Sinopliosaurus fusuiensis Museum --- Approximate 5 Acres
In 1973, a dinosaur fossil was dig-out from Liubang village of Shanxu town in the county of Fusui, which is about a few kilometers from the current location of the ASEAN Youth Industrial Park. The fossil was believed to belong to a dinosaur with an estimated size of over 5 meters in height and over 20 meters in length. Such “Big Mac” was later called the Sinopliosaurus fusuiensis. On the 6th of August, 2001, yet another discovery, two more relatively complete set of dinosaur fossil skeleton, 3 types of dinosaur teeth and some Mesozoic reptile fossils were dig-out from the same location. After preliminary study, it is believed the 2 dinosaurs could be a new species that had never been discovered before and mostly likely could be the tallest sauropod dinosaur in the world as we speak.
The study had also found obvious nodule particles in the fossil which could be caused by certain type of lesions. Such discovery has brought a very important signification to the research on dinosaur pathology and brought new clues to the extinction myth of dinosaurs. This is the first discovery of a relatively complete dinosaur skeleton fossil found in the southern border of China. It also had brought more comparatively complete evidences to the international academic world of dinosaur research. Also did a great help in having a better understanding about the evolution, allocation, formality, environment, weather of 100 million B.C. in southern China. Based on the geological data shown, it is strongly believed that more paleontology related findings should be found from the area.
The Dinosaur (Sinopliosaurus fusuiensis) Museum will be built on the world famous Sinopliosaurus fusuiensis discovery land in the county of Fusui, Guangxi, which is the current location of the China – ASEAN Youth Industrial Park. The museum is sitting within the vein of the China – ASEAN Free Trade Zone, Nan You Highway Quli section while connecting the two points of the Industrial Park. It is 48 Km from Downtown Nanning, 28 Km from Wuxu International Airport, 49 Km from Downtown Chongzuo, 138 Km from the Chinese Vietnam Border, 1 Km from the Xiang-Gui Railway, facing Route 322 on the east, with an approximately size of 10 acres. The museum is the largest in scale yet most special burial site of dinosaur fossils in the world.
The architectural design of the Sinopliosaurus fusuiensis Museum has an innovative contemporary style, yet unique in shape. The premise covers 8,000 square meters, with an overall shape that imitates natural stone cave from the ancient time. Inclusive of an underground level, 1st, 2nd and 3rd levels, with displaying area around 5,000 square meters. Display is categorized into four general areas, such as the “Dinosaur World”, “Dinosaur Heritage”, “Animals and Plants during the Dinosaur Era” together with the “Treasure Hall”. Specific functions are as followed:
(1) Introduction Hall— By using a computerized “World Dinosaur Fossil Allocation Map”, allows audience to learn more about general information on global dinosaur fossils discoveries, origin of respective dinosaur fossils and related information of the ancient time. Besides, the system will also cover a comprehensive introduction of all local ancient vertebrates fossils discovery since 1973.
(2) Treasure Hall – Not only is Fusui famous of the amount collected of the Sinopliosaurus fusuiensis fossils, but also of the beautiful preservation method. In the Treasure Hall, one can also find a good number of world class solitary specimens in terms of dinosaur fossils.
(3) Burial Hall – A large scale dinosaur fossils burial site with the size of 1,500 square meters is open for public viewing. The burial hall is filled numerous precious ancient dinosaur fossils dated back 100Million B.C., truly displaying the amazing nature.
(4) Specimen Displaying Hall— Exhibiting the Natives of Fusui dated back 135 Million B.C. – 205 Million B.C., the world famous Sinopliosaurus fusuiensis fossils and specimens. This Mid Jurassic fossils bank is a perfect example in helping us to understand the evolution of the world. With the 700 square meters wall painting allows us to learn about the environment of the said era.
(5)Jurassic Era Animals And Plants Hall – Focusing on the introduction of animals and plants that exist during the Jurassic era, such as reptiles like pterosaur, plesiosaur, ancient members of the fish family, amphibians, mammals, arbors as well as ferns.
